Illinois MCLE Q & A

On January 1, 2006, Minimum Continuing Legal Education (MCLE) became effective for most Illinois attorneys. The Chicago Bar Association is here to help our members meet the plan’s requirements through no-cost and low-cost programming. To help our members control the cost of MCLE, the CBA developed the CLEAdvantage discount seminar plan. Additionally, the CBA will track and record member attendance at CBA committee meetings and seminars, to make MCLE reporting a snap!

To learn more about MCLE rules, visit the MCLE Board's FAQ's.

Information for Newly Admitted Attorneys: Pursuant to Illinois' MCLE Rules, within one year of his/her admission to the Illinois bar, a new admittee must take a 15 hours basic skills course. Additional MCLE credits cannot be earned until the one year anniversary of his/her admission to the bar.
