27th Annual Citywide Mock Trial Competition - March 23-25 and April 21
Every year, hundreds of Chicago public high school students participate in the Citywide Mock Trial Competitions which the Circuit Court of Cook County is pleased to sponsor in conjunction with the Chicago Bar Association, the Chicago Public Schools, and the law firm of Sidley Austin LLP.  The competition uses a hands-on approach to instruct students on the legal system and the courts through the preparation and presentation of a fictitious court case.

This year students will have the opportunity to appear in a courtroom at the Richard J. Daley Center to present their case before a judge of the Circuit Court.   Volunteers are needed to assist the judges in this worthwhile event which has student participants from 26 Chicago Public High Schools. The competitions will be held in the Richard J. Daley Center on each day from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. If you are interested in volunteering fill out the response form. If you have questions contact Mary Alice Brice.

Bin Donated
The Health & Wellness Committee of the Young Lawyer Section of the CBA encourages you to get involved in any way possible with Bin Donated, a new, Chicago-based, charitable organization. It is a virtually effortless way for lawyers and their clients to help give back to the community.

Bin Donated is a non-profit organization dedicated to providing a free widespread collection and in-kind donation service to make charitable giving an active part of your everyday. In-kind donations are provided to organizations that have the most use for them at any given time. Currently the foucs is on the homeless and those seeking shelter from abuse. Bin Donated has partnered with CPS to support their 10,000+ homeless students as well as The Night Ministry and the Interfaith House in support of their homeless programs. Bin Donated creates efficiencies for these groups by soliciting in-kind donations on their behalf, helping them stretch their budgets and making monetary contributions to these groups go further.

There are 3 ways to support Bin Donated: volunteertrain or donate . All of these options and more information can be found on the website. Bin Donated's #1 volunteer request is to host a barrel in an office or residential building. Hosting a barrel is a great way to get everyone involved in the philanthropic spirit. There is a poster that is printed for each barrel where your business or building logo can be placed. Supporting Bin Donated means you’re helping collect hygiene products, food, books, toys, professional clothing, bicycles, pet supplies, back to school supplies and many other items that so many people need on a daily basis. Nothing that is collected is sold. All in-kind donations received are sorted, cleaned and promptly given out to partner organizations free of charge. If your firm is interested in getting involved, contact Judson Kinnucan.
