YLS Most Fit Young Lawyer Competition
Are you Chicago’s most fit young lawyer? Find out by competing in the Young Lawyer Section's "Most Fit Young Lawyer" competition on Saturday, October 18, 2008. Participants will compete by taking a modified version of the Illinois Peace Officer Wellness Evaluation Report (POWER) test that all Illinois police academy applicants are required to pass. 2008 Pro Bono Week - October 27 to 31
The CBA and The Chicago Bar Foundation will host Chicago's Fourth Annual Pro Bono Week from October 27 to 31 to honor lawyers' pro bono efforts and to educate the public and the legal community about how these lawyers are improving the lives of the less fortunate. Events include a Kick-Off Ceremony, Continuing Legal Education, and the YLS Pro Bono and Community Service Fair.  View the details.

Lincoln Bicentennial Celebration
The CBA will celebrate Abraham Lincoln's 200th birthday during the 2008-09 Bar year with a variety of special events. A kickoff luncheon featuring Governor James R. Thompson, Mayor Richard M. Daley, Alderman Edward M. Burke and the Hon. William J. Bauer will be held on October 29. View upcoming events.

Constitutional Convention Lawsuit: CBA v. White
The CBA recently filed suit in the Circuit Court of Cook County against the Illinois Secretary of State to stop distribution and use of the ballot on the referendum on the proposed Illinois Constitutional Convention. The CBA held that the ballot language was unconstitutional and would result in a re-vote being necessary.  Read more.
