The CBA's Professional Responsibility Committee authors ethics
opinions interpreting the Illinois Rules of Professional Conduct for
members. The procedures for requesting an opinion from the Committee are
as follows: 1) Any member may call or write the Government Affairs Department to
request an opinion. 2) All inquiries should be submitted in writing and
faxed (312-554-2054) or mailed to the Government Affairs office (321 S.
Plymouth Ct., Chicago, IL 60604).
The Committee issues legal ethics opinions as a public service to aid
lawyers in interpreting the Illinois Rules of Professional
Conduct. The opinions represent a composite judgment
of a majority of those members of the Committee voting on the opinions
and do not constitute an official act of The Chicago Bar Association.
