Law Student Membership and Involvement in the CBA

The Young Lawyers Section's (YLS) Law Student Committee provides a forum for Chicago area law students to not only participate in CBA events, but also bring student issues to the attention of bar association leadership, make career contacts and learn more about the realities of practicing law. Each bar year, the YLS plans and hosts several annual events that area specifically designed for law students. In addition, law student members are encouraged to participate in the activities of the Young Lawyers Section. Below is a quick reference guide of upcoming events law student members are encouraged to attend as well as links to additional CBA services and programs that may be of use to the student member.

9th Annual Texas Hold 'Em Tournament to Benefit the CBF-January 30
Join the Young Lawyers Section at its Ninth Annual Texas Hold’em Tournament for the benefit of The Chicago Bar Foundation. A special refresher course will be held prior to the tournament start to remind novice players of the basic rules of play and how to properly bet. Prizes will be awarded. Lunch with a Judge - February 4
You're invited to have lunch with Hon. Amy St. Eve, U.S. District Court Northern District of Illinois. The judge will give thoughts on her experience before becoming a judge and offer helpful tips on what young lawyers should know.  You must be a CBA member or law student member to attend and you must register in advance of the lunch. Limit 100 persons.
