Law Student Membership and Involvement in the CBA

The Young Lawyers Section's (YLS) Law Student Committee provides a forum for Chicago area law students to not only participate in CBA events, but also bring student issues to the attention of bar association leadership, make career contacts and learn more about the realities of practicing law. Each bar year, the YLS plans and hosts several annual events that area specifically designed for law students. In addition, law student members are encouraged to participate in the activities of the Young Lawyers Section. Below is a quick reference guide of upcoming events law student members are encouraged to attend as well as links to additional CBA services and programs that may be of use to the student member.

Lunch with a Judge-October 16
You're invited to have lunch with Hon. Larry Axelrood, Circuit Court of Cook County. The judge will give thoughts on his experience before becoming a judge and offer helpful tips on what young lawyers should know.  You must be a CBA member or law student member to attend and you must register in advance of the lunch. 8 0'Clock Call with the Judges - October 17
Members are invited to attend the Association's 8 O'Clock Call with the Judges on Friday, October 17, 2014, at 8:00 a.m., at the CBA. Judges from Cook County's Chancery Division will participate in a moderated question and answer session with the Hon. Thomas Hogan, Law Division, Circuit Court of Cook County. Panelists from the Chancery Division will include: Hon. Diane J. Larsen, Hon. Thomas R. Allen, Chancery Division, and Hon. Franklin Ulyses Valderrama.
