Donate Men’s and Women’s
Gently-Used Suits for New YLS Project
The Young Lawyers Section is launching a new project aimed at helping
high school seniors get ready to interview for their first jobs. Suits
for Success will provide approximately 75 male and 75 female students
from Cristo Rey Jesuit High School with the skills and ascetics needed
to excel during an interview. Elements of the project include providing
the students with donated suits, personal resume tips, and conducting
Donations of gently-used suits (clean and in
dry cleaning bags) can be dropped in the lobby of the Chicago Bar
Building, 321 S. Plymouth Ct., Chicago through October 30.

Casino Legale-September 26
Join the CBF Young Professionals Board of The Chicago Bar
Foundation and CBA Young Lawyers Section at the 7th annual Casino Legale
event on September 26 from 7-11 p.m. at the Chicago Cultural Center (78
E Washington). Guests will be transported to New Orleans’ famed
French Quarter for a fun-filled night of casino games, jazz, lively
libations and delicious southern fare. One lucky winner will go home
with the evening’s Grand Prize—a trip for two to New

YLS Repack Night at GCFD—October
Spend an evening serving the community while getting to know
other young lawyers! The YLS needs volunteers to work at the Greater
Chicago Food Depository (GCFD) on Wednesday, October 8, 2014, from
6:00-8:45 p.m. Pizza and soda will be served. Volunteers will work on
the repacking line inspecting, cleaning, and sorting donated products
for distribution to soup kitchens, pantries, and homeless shelters.
Volunteers must wear long pants, sleeved shirts and closed shoes with
nonskid soles. The GCFD is located on the Southwest side of Chicago (not

Lunch with a Judge-October 16
You're invited to have lunch with Hon. Larry Axelrood,
Circuit Court of Cook County. The judge will give thoughts on his
experience before becoming a judge and offer helpful tips on what young
lawyers should know.
You must be a CBA member or law student member to attend and you must
register in advance of the lunch. Limit 100 persons. Click

21st Annual Pro Bono & Community Service Fair-October
Meet with representatives from almost 50 of Chicago's legal aid, pro
bono and community service organizations to network with likeminded
professionals and uncover the volunteer opportunity you have been
seeking. This year's event is being generously hosted at Skadden
Arps Meagher & Flom, 155 N Wacker Dr., Chicago. Refreshments will be
served. Please note: This complimentary event is open to law
students and lawyers of all levels of legal experience. The
evening's program will indicate the level of experience required
by a particular organization. Presented by The Young

CBA Moot Court Competition (Volunteers Needed) - November
The YLS is hosting its 33rd Annual Moot Court Competition on
November 13-15, 2014, at the Dirksen Federal Building in Chicago. This
year, 30 teams are competing from across the country.
The YLS needs attorneys to act as competition judges and brief graders.
Volunteer brief graders are asked to review and critique approximately
4-5 briefs near the middle of October and volunteer competition judges
are needed on the evenings of November 13 and 14 (5:30 or 7:30 p.m.) and
the morning of November 15 (9:00 a.m. and 10:30 a.m.) Competition judges
are eligible to earn Illinois MCLE credit.
