The Young Lawyers Section of The Chicago Bar Association hosts many
events and programs throughout the bar year designed to provide useful
and relevant information along with networking opportunities for the new

YLS Presents Slate of 2018-2019 Officers and Directors
Pursuant to Section 5.4 of Article V of the By-Laws of the
Young Lawyers Section, the Nominating Committee of the Young Lawyers
Section submits its slate of candidates
for election to the offices indicated. The term of office for
each position to be filled shall be one year from the 2018 Annual
Meeting of the Young Lawyers Section to the 2019 Annual Meeting, except
the Co-Editors in Chief of the YLS Journal and the Directors shall have

Become a Part of the CBA Anti-Violence Task Force to Make a
The Young Lawyers Section has recently launched an
Anti-Violence Task Force as an avenue for attorneys of all backgrounds
to help remedy Chicago’s violence problem. The Task Force is a
network of attorneys committed to facilitating connections between
Chicago’s legal community and leaders and organizations
contributing to solutions to Chicago’s violence problems.
The committee is currently seeking new members interested in having
conversations about how to put an end to Chicago’s violence
problems and volunteering directly with community organizations that are
making a difference. CBA members may join the Anti-Violence Task Force,
by visiting www.chicagobar.org/committees
and selecting “Anti-Violence Task Force” from the list of
Service Committees. You will then begin receiving notices of meetings
and volunteer opportunities.

Meet the Judges Reception & Liberty Bell Award
Presentation - May 3
Join the YLS for a meet and greet with judges from the Illinois
Appellate Court, Federal Court and Circuit Court of Cook County, and to
celebrate Law Day (officially May 1). A member of the judiciary will
join us as our keynote speaker and will present The Liberty Bell Award

Join us at the Richard J. Daley Center, where the CBA's
Barristers Big Band will perform musical selections and members of the
Chicago legal community will give personal reflections on the Law Week

YLS Lunch with Judge Patricia Spratt - May 21
The YLS Lunch with a Judge series strives to provide young
lawyers with the unique opportunity to hear from a member of the bench
in an intimate setting. On May 21, Circuit Court of Cook County Judge
Patricia Spratt will discuss "A Peek Under the Tent: Civil Litigation
Tips Seasoned Judges Share with New Members of the Bench." The luncheon
event will take place from 12:00-1:00 p.m. at Taft Stettinius &
Hollister LLP, Suite 2800, 111 E Wacker Dr., Chicago, IL. A
