The Young Lawyers Section of The Chicago Bar Association hosts many
events and programs throughout the bar year designed to provide useful
and relevant information along with networking opportunities for the new

Leadership Positions Open: Notice of 2018 YLS Election
The Nominating Committee of the Young Lawyers Section announces
the 2018 election for Section Officers. The Election will be governed by
Article V-Elections of the YLS By-Laws.
The offices to be filled are as follows: First Vice-Chair (succeeds
automatically to Chair), Second Vice-Chair (succeeds automatically to
First Vice-Chair), Secretary/Treasurer, Member Service Manager, Public
Service Manager, Co-Editor-in-Chief of the YLS Journal of the CBA
Record, two Project officers, and five Directors. All offices are
one-year terms, except that Directors and the Co-Editors-in-Chief of the
YLS Journal, will serve two-year terms.
YLS members interested in seeking a position for the 2018-2019 bar
year should submit a letter of intention via email at firstname.lastname@example.org no later than
February 21, 2018. The letter of intent should include your name,
contact information (including phone number), and the position you would
like to be considered for.

Become a Part of the CBA Anti-Violence Task Force to Make a
The Young Lawyers Section has recently launched an
Anti-Violence Task Force as an avenue for attorneys of all backgrounds
to help remedy Chicago’s violence problem. The Task Force is a
network of attorneys committed to facilitating connections between
Chicago’s legal community and leaders and organizations
contributing to solutions to Chicago’s violence problems.
The committee is currently seeking new members interested in having
conversations about how to put an end to Chicago’s violence
problems and volunteering directly with community organizations that are
making a difference. CBA members may join the Anti-Violence Task Force,
by visiting www.chicagobar.org/committees
and selecting “Anti-Violence Task Force” from the list of
Service Committees. You will then begin receiving notices of meetings
and volunteer opportunities.

Nights,” our 11th annual casino night fundraiser benefiting The
Chicago Bar Foundation! In celebration of the CBF’s 70th
Anniversary we’ll be getting down 1970’s-style in our best
disco duds at an evening featuring table games, a Texas Hold’em
Tournament, and food and drink at The University Club on February 23,

YLS Lunch with Justice Reyes (Illinois
Appellate Court) - March 1
The YLS Lunch with a Judge series strives to
provide young lawyers with the unique opportunity to hear from a member
of the bench in an intimate setting. On March 1, Illinois Appellate
Court Justice Jesse Reyes will discuss "Civility and the Art of
Advocacy." The luncheon event will take place from 12:00-1:00 p.m.

Access Success: Creating Opportunities for Attorneys with
Disabilities - March 6
The Young Lawyers Section is pleased to host an "Access
Success" event on March 6, 2018 at 4:00 p.m. at the Microsoft AON
Center, 200 E. Randolph, Chicago, IL. Access Success is a live event
