YLS Events
The Young Lawyers Section of The Chicago Bar Association hosts many
events and programs throughout the bar year designed to provide useful
and relevant information along with networking opportunities for the new
attorney. Information on upcoming events and opportunities are detailed
below.
YLS Open House- May 23
Attend the YLS Annual Open House on Thursday, May
23, 2013, from 5:00-7:00 p.m., at Association Headquarters. The
reception is held annually in appreciation of the judges and lawyers who
have volunteered their time and effort in support of the YLS during the
past year. Complimentary cocktails and appetizers will be provided. RSVP
to the YLS.
Adopt-a-Beach Clean Up - May 23
The YLS Environmental Law Committee will be joining Alliance for the
Great Lakes and Barefoot Wine and Bubbly for an Adopt-a-Beach
cleanup event at North Avenue Beach on May 23, 2013 from 5:30-7:30
p.m.
Similar to the fall event, at Oak Street Beach, volunteers will work in
groups of three to collect, sort, and classify the items found on North
Avenue Beach using Adopt-a-Beach worksheets. Volunteers will
conduct litter removal and monitoring and complete a beach health
assessment form.
After the clean up, Barefoot Wine and Bubbly will be hosting a
celebration/networking event with free wine tasting at Castaways,
located at 1603 North Lake Shore Drive near North Avenue Beach. To

YLS Springfield Excursion - May 27-28
Hop the Train to Springfield Memorial Day Weekend with the Young
Lawyers Section! The Young Lawyers Section is set to explore
Illinois' Capitol on Monday, May 27 to Tuesday, May 28, 2013. The group
will depart by train from Chicago Union Station on Monday (or make
your own arrangements to drive/carpool) to explore
Springfield, make new connections and learn about Illinois'

YLS Annual Meeting - June 6
Join the Young Lawyers Section at its 2013 Annual
Meeting on Thursday, June 6, 2013, at Harry Caray’s Italian
Steakhouse, 33 W Kinzie, Chicago. A reception will begin at 11:30 a.m.,
followed by a luncheon and program at 12:00 p.m. Outgoing YLS Chair
Natacha D. McClain, Segal McCambridge Singer & Mahoney,
Ltd. will preside over the Meeting. Incoming Chair Mary K. Curry,
Chambers of Magistrate Judge Susan Cox will be introduced and special
awards honoring outstanding Section members will also be presented.

CBF Spring into Summer Event - June 13
Join the Young Professionals Board of The Chicago Bar
Foundation and the Young Lawyers Section of The Chicago Bar
Association to help tee off the summer and celebrate access to justice
efforts with drinks, food and mingling at Par Bar located at 160 N
Franklin, Chicago from 5:30-8:30 p.m. on June 13, 2013. Tickets are $35
