Dear Santa Letters-Now
Help a child enjoy the holidays...answer a Dear Santa Letter!
The YLS will be distributing "Dear Santa" letters provided by Direct
Effect Charities, a group that receives thousands of letters from
disadvantaged youth from Chicago Public Schools requesting gifts from
Santa. Simply select a letter, purchase a few items the child has
requested, and mail the package. Letters will be available at the CBA
(321 S. Plymouth Ct.) starting the week of Thanksgiving or or if you
would like to distribute letters at your firm, contact Jenni Bertolino at
312-554-2031. Complete instructions will be attached to the letter.
Bundled Blessings Diaper Drive- thru December 13
The YLS will be collecting diapers of all sizes to be donated
to Bundled Blessings. Bundled Blessings is an all-volunteer diaper
pantry whose mission is to supply diapers to families in need through
partnerships with local social service agencies in Evanston,
Federal programs such as LINK (f/k/a Food Stamps) and WIC (Women, Infant
and Children) do not allow for the purchase of diapers. Local agencies
that are supported by Bundled Blessings include Connections for the
Homeless, Family Residential Program and the Infant Welfare Society of
Evanston at Evanston Township High School’s Teen Baby Nursery.
Donations may be dropped off at the CBA building (321 S Plymouth Ct.)
thru December 13. Monetary donations will also be accepted and will go
towards the purchase of diapers. Checks should be made payable to
“First United Methodist Church of Evanston” with
“Bundled Blessings” in the memo. Click
here for more information on Bundled Blessings.
YLS Elementary School Holiday Party-December 18
The YLS has invited students K-2 from Parkside Elementary School to the
CBA for a holiday party. Throughout the party, the students will have an
opportunity to play games at their table, take photos with Santa, listen
to some holiday tunes, and have a nutritious lunch. Parkside is a
general education public school and the majority of school’s
population lives in local shelters that surround the school. Help us
give these kids a holiday party to remember! Volunteers are needed from
11 a.m.-1 p.m. to help serve the students lunch, facilitate the games
and take photos with Santa. Interested volunteers should contact Paraisia Winston.
Not able to volunteer? Our hope is to give each of
the three teachers a box of much needed supplies. Construction paper,
tissues, hand sanitizer, paper towels and Clorox wipes are in need.
Please drop donations off in the CBA lobby on or before December
