The Young Lawyers Section of The Chicago Bar Association hosts many
events and programs throughout the bar year designed to provide useful
and relevant information along with networking opportunities for the new

YLS Holiday Social-December
The weather outside may be frightful, but our Holiday Social is
sure to be delightful! Join us at the CBA Building on December 4
from 5-7 p.m. for a holiday get together that includes food, spirits,
and mingling with friends and colleagues. This social is a great way to
kick off the holiday season! Please RSVP to the YLS to confirm your attendance.
YLS Night at the Bar Show - December
After the Social, join us for YLS Night at the "Merry Old Land of Lawz",
the CBA's 2013 Bar Show production. A special block of $10 seats have
been set aside for YLS members. To receive the special discount, contact
YLS Children's Book Drive - thru December 8
Donate new and gently-used children's books to the Young Lawyers
Section's Annual Children's Book Drive. Books will be provided to local
homeless shelters, the children's waiting room at the Daley Center, the
Carole Robertson Center for Learning, and the Cook County Juvenile
Justice Center. Collect books at your firm and drop-off the books in the
CBA Lobby, 321 S. Plymouth Ct., from November 4 to December 8.
Dear Santa Letters-Now
Help a child enjoy the holidays...answer a Dear Santa Letter!
The YLS will be distributing "Dear Santa" letters provided by Direct
Effect Charities, a group that receives thousands of letters from
disadvantaged youth from Chicago Public Schools requesting gifts from
Santa. Simply select a letter, purchase a few items the child has
requested, and mail the package. Letters will be available at the CBA
(321 S. Plymouth Ct.) starting the week of Thanksgiving or or if you
would like to distribute letters at your firm, contact Jenni Bertolino at
312-554-2031. Complete instructions will be attached to the letter.
Legal Prep Holiday Party @ Off the Street Club - December
YLS is partnering with Legal Prep to throw a holiday party for the
children of the Off the Street Club. Off the Street is a community
organization that provides a place for children between the ages of 4
and 18 to do homework, participate in extracurricular activities,
receive tutoring and participate in many other programs. The holiday
party will be held on December 10, 2013 from 4:00- 5:30 p.m. at the Off
the Streets Club (25 N. Karlov Ave, Chicago, IL 60624). Volunteers are
needed to work with student volunteers from Legal Prep to organize and
host the party. There will be food, drinks and a chance to meet Santa!

Bundled Blessings Diaper Drive- thru December 13
The YLS will be collecting diapers of all sizes to be donated
to Bundled Blessings. Bundled Blessings is an all-volunteer diaper
pantry whose mission is to supply diapers to families in need through
partnerships with local social service agencies in Evanston,
Federal programs such as LINK (f/k/a Food Stamps) and WIC (Women, Infant
and Children) do not allow for the purchase of diapers. Local agencies
that are supported by Bundled Blessings include Connections for the
Homeless, Family Residential Program and the Infant Welfare Society of
Evanston at Evanston Township High School’s Teen Baby Nursery.
Donations may be dropped off at the CBA building (321 S Plymouth Ct.)
thru December 13. Monetary donations will also be accepted and will go
towards the purchase of diapers. Checks should be made payable to
“First United Methodist Church of Evanston” with
“Bundled Blessings” in the memo. Click
