Charles Dickens "A Christmas Carol" CD

The Chicago Bar Association Symphony Orchestra (CBASO) has produced “A Christmas Carol” CD, a dramatic audio performance of Charles Dickens’ “A Christmas Carol,” featuring CBASO member Harry Porterfield performing the role of narrator. After an exhaustive search, CBASO member Leslie Bertagnolli found a surviving copy of the script that Charles Dickens used when he did one-man performances of “A Christmas Carol” on stage, and used a Dickens’ edited version of the original for this “radio style” performance. “The CD is like a classic radio show. The CBASO ´actors’ deliver their lines with perfect timing, striking the right mood in each scene. Sometimes eerie sound effects -- like Marley’s chains, clanging church bells and thunder in the graveyard with the Ghost of Christmas Yet To Come -- bring the action to life. And, just the right music (recorded by the CBASO) is added to enhance the overall performance.”
