YLS Lunch with a Judge - February 8
You're invited to have lunch with Justice Mary Jane Theis of the Illinois Supreme Court. The complimentary event will take place on Wednesday, February 8, 2012, from 12:00-1:30 p.m., at the CBA. The Justice will give helpful tips on what young lawyers should know to have a successful practice in court. Lunch will be provided and is sponsored by Corboy & Demetrio P.C. CBF Fat Tuesday Challenge - February 21

YLS e-Mentoring Program
The YLS is teaming up with Chicago Public Schools’ Richards Career Academy to host its annual e-mentoring program. The program serves approximately 40 high school students enrolled in Law & Public Safety. Over a 14-week period, lawyer volunteers commit to participating in a February 8 kick-off lunch at the CBA, a weekly email exchange, a mid-term visit to Richards Career Academy, and a May 15 closing lunch at the CBA. Topics of the e-mail exchanges include substantive legal topics in their curriculum, college/law school prep, job interviewing, and the practice of law. YLS Wills for Heroes February 25 Event
The YLS will host a Wills for Heroes event on February 25, 2012, from 8:00 a.m. - 12:00 p.m., at which
volunteer lawyers will create free wills, living wills, and other estate planning
documents for local emergency first responders and their spouses or partners. The event will take place at Chicago Police Headquarters, 3510 S. Michigan Ave. There will be a brief training from 8:00 - 9:00 a.m. and document preparation will take place from 9:00 a.m. - 2:00 p.m. To volunteer, RSVP by Friday, February 17 by filling out the online questionnaire. RSVPs received in any other manner will not be accepted.
YLS Coat Drive for Chicago Kids Closet Program Through February 29
The YLS is teaming up with Direct Effect Charities to collect new and gently used winter coats and gear for their Chicago Kids Closet progam. New socks and underwear are also being collected. All items collected will be distributed throughout the Chicago Public School system to students in need. Drop off in the CBA Building's lobby at 321 S. Plymouth Ct.
