Consulting with their clients on end-of-life decisions, attorneys may feel uncomfortable about raising matters and issues that touch upon their client's religious or moral wishes regarding end-of-life treatment and care. Presentations by legal, medical and religious experts will offer guidance when dealing with the sensitivities of Jews, Roman Catholics and Muslims, to spare them or their families of stressful decisions and needless frustrations. Also covered will be advance health care directives, letters of instruction to person representatives and their families, trusts dealing with life support, organ donations, funeral arrangements and memorial choices. Illinois durable powers of attorney and effective living wills, as well as "ethical wills" will be reviewed. Concluding thoughts will cover legacies to preserve one's values, hopes and dreams for the future. Finally, websites and bibliographic information will be noted to assist you in guiding your clients.
