TOPIC: Immigration Relief for Survivors of Domestic Violence
Survivors of domestic violence who are undocumented often worry that their immigration status means that they have no rights. They are fearful of contacting law enforcement and afraid that any actions against the perpetrator will result in their removal from this country. This presentation seeks to provide general information on the various forms of immigration relief available to survivors of domestic violence such as VAWA, U visa, T visa and Special Immigrant Juvenile Status (SIJS). Domestic Relations practitioners will also learn how domestic relations orders may affect the immigration proceedings.
