Hollywood of the Rockies: Colorado, The West & America's Film Pioneers- discussion by the author Michael J. Spencer
Discover an age of filmmaking that most people don't even know existed. The American film industry was originally centered in New York and Chicago at the end of the nineteenth century - but the early film entrepreneurs were drawn westward by the gorgeous scenery of the Rocky Mountains and eventually settled in Hollywood. We'll take a look at what happened in between - including Thomas Edison's bid to control the industry with his Motion Picture Patents Company and the novel method the film pioneers took to copyright their work."
