TOPIC: Illinois Laws and Regulations Affecting CPA Firms, including Prohibited Practices, Non-Audit Services and Contingent Fees.
SPEAKER: Kristine L. Nagy, Assistant General Counsel, Illinois Department of Financial and Professional Regulation, Division of Professional Regulation. Ms. Nagy will address the following topics: (1) overview of the Illinois Department of Financial and Professional Regulation; (2) examples of recent disciplinary cases against CPAs; (3) recent amendments to the Act and Rules (i.e. phase out of Registered CPAs, implementation of peer review, expanded CPE options); (4) upcoming legislation (discussion of proposed sunset bill for 2013 Spring Session); (5) contingent fees / non-audit services.
