The Young Lawyers Section's (YLS) Law Student Committee provides a forum for Chicago area law students to not only participate in CBA events, but also bring student issues to the attention of bar association leadership, make career contacts and learn more about the realities of practicing law. Each bar year, the YLS plans and hosts several annual events that area specifically designed for law students. In addition, law student members are encouraged to participate in the activities of the Young Lawyers Section. Below is a quick reference guide of upcoming events law student members are encouraged to attend as well as links to additional CBA services and programs that may be of use to the student member.

Walk a Mile in Her Shoes® - May 12
Get Ready to Walk! As part of the Young Lawyers Section's Violence Against Women Awareness Week, the YLS has teamed up with Walk a Mile in Her Shoes® to organize a unique walk for men through Chicago's Loop. Men are invited to literally walk one mile through Chicago's loop in women's high-heeled shoes (women are invited to participate and support the male walkers). The event aims to raise awareness about the cause and effects of sexualized violence and will be a fun way to get people talking about a very difficult subject. Proceeds will benefit our cosponsor, Between Friends. Participants must wear high heels. Purchase of a pair of high heels is the responsibility of the participant. Click here for more information or to register.

Toiletries for Mothers in Need
The YLS is collecting travel-sized toiletries and gently-used items to provide to mothers in need at a local domestic violence shelter. General hygiene items such as shampoo, hair gel, razors, toothbrushes, toothpaste and soap are being collected. Gently used curling irons and hair dryers are also needed. Donations may be dropped off in the CBA lobby (321 S Plymouth Ct.) through May 2, 2014.
