Hop the Bus to Springfield with
the Young Lawyers Section!
The Young Lawyers Section and the Chicago Bar Foundation (CBF) are set to explore Springfield, Illinois on Tuesday, April 5* to Wednesday, April 6, 2016. There will be opportunities to learn more about Illinois’ legislative process and how to lobby, as well as to meet with legislators, make new connections, and explore Springfield. Law students and attorneys of all experience levels are welcome.
• Opening reception at The Globe located at The President Lincoln Hotel
• Issues Facing Our Legislature and Lobbying 101 CLE programs (earn up to 3 IL MCLE)
• Tours of the Capitol Building, IL Supreme Court, and Lincoln Museum
• Viewing of the General Assembly and committees
• Free time to explore Springfield
• Access to Making Sausage and Legislation in Illinois: What Every Lawyer Needs to Know About Illinois’ Legislative Process CLE Webcast (1.75 IL MCLE)
$50 per person (includes Tuesday reception, light breakfast and lunch on Wednesday). Travel arrangements (hotel plus train/car) are responsibility of the attendee.
The President Lincoln Hotel is located at 701 E. Adams St. and has a group rate of $119 plus tax per night for Tuesday, April 5. Reservations can be made by calling 217-544-8800. Please mention "The Chicago Bar Association" to receive the group rate. Note: Rate subject to change after Tuesday March 15th.
Amtrak travels to and from Springfield daily. It is suggested that attendees take the 5:15pm on 4/5, the 7pm on 4/5, or, if unable to travel on Tuesday, the 7:00am on 4/6 departing from Union Station (though taking the 4/6 train will result in missing the morning CLE programming). You will be travelling from Union Station (CHI) to Springfield (SPI).
The group will take the 4:56pm train back to Chicago on 4/6, however, there is a 7:32pm train for those wishing to spend additional time in Springfield.
You may also choose to drive or carpool. If you are interested in driving or carpooling with other attendees please let Angela know (contact information above) and she can help with making those connections.
*If you are interested in gaining some additional hands-on lobbying experience, you are welcome to join CBA and CBF staff members in Springfield during the afternoon of Tuesday, April 5.
