7 Tips for Writing Better Court Submissions - W

This session will help you learn (or remind you) how to put your best written foot forward and ensure your written court submissions help your case rather than hurt it. We will review style and grammar tips, look at examples of "do's" and "don'ts" of written court submission examples and understand how organization and preparation is key for your best work product.

Prior to Smokeball, Josh was a former litigator at one of the most well-respected firms in Connecticut. While in practice, Josh litigated complex matters for large multinational corporations, assisted with regulatory navigation, and performed pro bono representation in both civil and criminal matters. His practice areas included insurance, franchise, and general contract law. Josh holds a B.M. in Music and a B.A. in Political Science from the University of Connecticut. He received his J.D. cum laude from Washington University in St. Louis where he served as a Senior Editor on the Washington University Law Review. While at Wash. U., he clerked for the Hon. Jean C. Hamilton and held the prestigious Thompson Coburn Research Fellowship.
