Lessons From Illinois Intrastate Crowdfunding

Please join our panel for a discussion of recent developments in Illinois crowdfunding. The panel will discuss Illinois' procedures for raising funds through equity crowdfunding, the challenges of conducting a crowdfunding offering, and practical tips for working with state regulators. During this event, you will learn the stages of conducting an Illinois intrastate crowdfunding offering, common challenges, how the state can help you and your clients complete the offering, and how to avoid common points of friction before registering the offering with the state of Illinois.

Speakers:
Florence Hardy
is the CEO of truCrowd Illinois and the principal of The Law Offices of Florence E. Hardy. Florence has worked for the City of Chicago, DePaul University, and the Chicagoland Chamber of Commerce. She received her MBA with a concentration on Entrepreneurship from DePaul University, her JD from the John Marshall Law School, and her BBA from Howard University.

Elaine Wyder-Harshman and Christopher D. Williams are partners at Convex Legal LLC, a boutique law firm concentrating in the financial, creative, and tech industries.

Before entering private practice, Elaine was an Assistant Attorney General for the State of Illinois. Her pre-law background includes photography and coding. She received her JD from Chicago-Kent Law School, her MFA from Columbia College Chicago, and her BFA from the Ohio State University.

Before entering private practice, Chris worked as an attorney for the Chicago Board Options Exchange (CBOE) and the Financial Industry Regulatory Authority (FINRA). He received his JD from Loyola University Chicago School of Law and his BA from Marquette University.
