Crossing Borders and Operating Law-Related Businesses

This program will provide information about the pitfalls of practicing law across borders and the rules of professional conduct that are implicated.  It will also engage the attendees in a discussion of the issues encountered when operating law related businesses.  We will then explore the interplay between the two topics and discuss how best to engage in such activities without running afoul of the rules.

PRACTICING ACROSS BORDERS; THE APPLICABLE RULES AND PITFALLS
Tips from a practitioner, who frequently represents attorneys in disciplinary matters and provides legal advice on professional responsibility issues.  She will address useful considerations when crossing state borders to handle cases, including a review of particular problems encountered with Illinois’ neighboring states.
