Avoiding Lawyer Legal and Ethical Trouble

The legal landscape is forever changing. Lawyers must change with it. This seminar will offer an examination of some emerging hot topic issues as well as some reoccurring themes that lawyers should be aware of to ensure ethical compliance and avoid malpractice claims. The legal ethics community is adapting to address emerging issues (e.g. artificial intelligence, litigation funding, social media, technological competency, and the MeToo! Movement), while many ethical issues remain constants (e.g. client fund management, client communication, etc.).

Additionally, the number of legal malpractice claims are increasing. This trend is reflective of an increase in attorneys dabbling outside of their practice area and an increase in attorneys bringing “bad client” claims.
